Douglas Kelley, OD
I was born in Rockford and lived in the state-line area for most of my life. After receiving my Associates Degree in Science at Rock Valley College in Rockford, I transferred to Northern Illinois University, where I majored in Biochemistry with special emphasis in Cellular and Molecular Biology. I was accepted to the Illinois College of Optometry where I focused on Primary Care, Contact Lenses, and Geriatric Optometry. During my clinical externships I furthered my clinical knowledge of Pediatrics at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, IL. I broadened my skills in Advanced Care and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Lake City, FL VA hospital. I worked directly under an Ophthalmologist at the Sterling/Rock Falls Eye Clinic allowing me more practical experience in Advanced Care and Surgical Co-management. I then concluded my externship rounds at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, FL. After graduating, I worked for several years at a number of Optometry offices where I perfected my skills and gained valuable insight into the business aspect of the field.
My professional memberships include the American and Wisconsin Optometric Associations, the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the AOA, the Vision Rehabilitation Section of the AOA, InfantSEE, and the National Glaucoma Society. I have always found it rewarding to take part in community organizations. While attending Rock Valley College I was president of college’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I also served four years on Rock Valley College’s Board of Trustees after graduating. I am currently a member of the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce and Beloit Noon Lions Club, as well as a board member for the Voluntary Action Center and the Beloit Ambassadors. I look forward to serving this community for many years to come.

I am originally from Northwest Michigan. I graduated from Ferris State University where I earned a degree in Applied Biology/Pre-Optometry. From there I graduated with a Doctor in Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. I completed several clinical externships across Michigan and South Carolina. These externships included WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia SC, Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson MI, and Balian Eye Center in Rochester, MI. During my undergraduate and graduate education, I served in leadership roles for several organizations and received awards in practice management and low vision.
After optometry school, I completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision at the Connecticut VA Health Care System in West Haven, CT. There I specialized in working with veterans at the Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center who were learning to maximize their sight after vision loss from both traumatic brain injury and eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. I worked for four years in an ophthalmology practice in Ithaca, NY before coming to Wisconsin.
I have a special interest in humanitarian eye care missions, and have traveled to the West Indies, and South America twice. I also enjoy time with my pets, fat-biking, kayaking, hockey, and Big Ten sports.

I grew up in Stoughton,WI. I have a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology from the University of Minnesota, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry. I completed my clinical externships at Heartland Eye Consultants in Omaha NE, WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia SC, McDonald Eye Care Associates in Lakeville MN, and Atwater Eye Care Center in Bloomington IN. These externships elevated my training and skills in primary eye care, ocular disease, low vision, pediatrics, vision therapy and contact lenses. After graduating from Indiana University, I joined an ophthalmology practice in Cortland, NY where I practiced for 5 years before returning to Wisconsin. I am excited to return to Wisconsin with my clinical expertise to provide quality eye care to the Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois community.
In my spare time, I can be found outdoors with my dog and husband, and enjoy hiking, ice skating, biking or kayaking.
